When I first considered writing this, I thought this would be relatively easy as I have probably seen most films that would fit on a good Kung Fu movie list, but once I got into it, I realized that my choices may not match everyone else’s.

As any human being, I am surrounded by challenges, and facing those can be difficult, but some are easy and simple to face. In this case this was eminently more difficult than I had foreseen. Being well informed with regard to Kung Fu movies helped tremendously. Of course one of the challenges was not choosing my favorite movie of the genre, but choosing what I thought was the best.

 

The First Movie To Make The Kung Fu Movie List

 

Kung Fu Movie List: “The Chinese Connection” released in 1972, stars Bruce Lee using his nunchakus for the very first time and using them in such a way as to make the audience totally awestruck. The movie contains just about everything you need to make a great Kung Fu movie — assassins, drug smuggling, and the ever-present tensions between the Chinese and the Japanese. The movie even thrusts a giant Russian at us. Well mixed in all this is dirty corruption and you definitely have a hit! One of the interesting things about this movie is all the titles it has held – for instance “The Chinese Connection” and also “The Iron Hand,” and finally also “Fist of Fury” which should not be confused with “Fists of Fury” though! If you find this confusing, you may now join the ranks of most Kung Fu movie lovers!

 

The Second Movie To Make The Kung Fu Movie List

“Seven Samurai” released in 1954, stars Toshiro Mifune, as well as Takashi Simura and Keiko Tsushima, but it is very important to note that it was directed by the very gifted Akira Kurosawa and written by him as well. This is one of the longest Kung Fu films you will see, as the running time is 3:27! However, there are many that say that this is partly what makes this film so great, as you have the time to truly be brought into the movie. This film not only has elements of action in it, but also heartbreak, romance, humor and definitely a whole lot of suspense. Toshiro Mifune can only be called a “notorious” film actor, capturing the essence of his character absolutely brilliantly. The direction in this film can stand alone for any scrutiny possible because the photography and editing are absolutely superb. The decisive part of the movie is the ultimate showdown of course, which is epic in anyone’s mind!

 

The Third Movie To Make The Kung Fu Movie List

Kung Fu Movie List: “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” which was released in 2000 is the 3^rd movie to make the list. It stars Chow Yun-Fat, as well as Michelle Yeoh and also Zhang Ziyi, and is directed by Ang Lee. One of the highlights of this film is the amazing landscape that plays an important part in the cinematography of the film, which was all filmed in Western China. The storyline concerns two warriors who are seeking to find a stolen sword. This film is dramatic rather than being filled with slapstick humor, and manages to almost be equal to a Greek tragedy in how it is told in the film. Also, the requisite fight scenes actually express personality spirits of the characters as well as their tremendous conflicts with not just each other but society too.
